I think it will and am curious to find out.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-79789788768482082252016-01-12T21:14:27.211-05:002016-01-12T21:14:27.211-05:00Really great review. Part of me thinks the familiarity is going to get a bit annoying. But maybe in the context of the new trilogy it will all work out. I think a lot may end up on where the series goes next. But for my first viewing I had a really great time with it. Roman J. I can certainly understand why you feel that way and your own review made it abudantly clear. I went into this movie with mixed emotions and wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it going in. Even a few minutes in I wasn't getting caught up in it but then something happened. Once Rey was introduced and she met up with Finn, the movie really started started clicking for me. It should be interesting to see if it holds up to repeated viewings - something that the original trilogy does.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-45039044630706673312016-01-09T08:48:11.498-05:002016-01-09T08:48:11.498-05:00Hi J.D.

Yours is once again a stand out.<br /><br />"Wonderment"<br />Yes, this is the problem since the original trilogy.<br /><br />Your research offers many of the reasons I did enjoy this picture from an aesthetic, nostalgic perspective, but unlike yourself and many others, I just didn't feel it captured the detail and wonderment of those originals in its new characters and settings.<br /><br />And certainly as you note the casting was great and at least here, unlike the prequels, there was so much more passion and interplay between them whereby Lucas wanted many of his characters to purport themselves in a certain fashion or style given the political world in which they resided forcing good actors to feel wooden or stiff. Jar Jar simply wasn't the antidote for that in the prequels. So that was a huge turnaround here.<br /><br />So in the end I think the casting and performances were indeed highlights, but that the film's weaknesses are in direction and script. I didn't quite experience the emotional one others have unfortunately, but I'm thrilled to see and read those experiences from fans who did.<br /><br />I liked your point about Lucas giving up his baby, or property. Despite being rich and making loads of money in the decision (that probably softened the blow), you're right it still had to be difficult to let go.<br /><br />So while I did not sense the wonder many did, this was clearly a throwback to the 1977 original by design. I completely agree and likely intended as a springboard for future episodes. We'll see how that goes. No doubt it will go very well commercially.<br /><br />Great stuff J.D my friend!SFFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04256589316922398158noreply@blogger.com
