I know there were plot holes you could fly A Last Starfighter through but I can't work out after the gang blow up the electricity tower where did Sherman get the electricity from to restart the glowing time thingy box. Also if anyone can tell me why I like this movie in the first place!!

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-23398477366550270292013-06-03T09:36:34.650-04:002013-06-03T09:36:34.650-04:00Sean Gill:

And then, of course, saw it many times on VHS. It was interesting revisiting it after all these years. It held up. I'd be curious to know what you think if you get a chance to see it again.

Roderick Heath:

heh. Yeah!

Francisco Gonzalez:

Well said! I couldn't agree more about watching movies before the advent of DVD or Blu-Ray. Even while VHS was getting going you still had to go see a movie on the big screen repeatedly.

I enjoyed all the Dennis Hopper scenes. He really brought a lot to the role and the loving nods to EASY RIDER were a lot of fun.

Yeah, the subplot with Harlan's dad getting remarried I could've done without as well. It seemed tacked on and it never really went anywhere. It seemed merely to show that Harlan had a life outside of school.

And yeah, Stevens and Stockwell have gone on to fairly successful careers as directors. Hell, Stevens even won an Oscar for a documentary he made!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-39469534320697376372013-04-30T13:18:10.060-04:002013-04-30T13:18:10.060-04:00Yeah, I have a soft spot for it too. I love how the characters say things like "how many times have you seen Jedi?" because at the time, VHS was just getting started, and what people did back then was go see the movie as many times as possible to the theaters. That's all gone now because people know that if they don't see it, it will be out on dvd or bluray in a couple of months. But back then? It was all about experiencing a film as many times as possible before it got taken out.

But speaking of My Science Project, the T-Rex scene is a highlight for sure, and that moment in which Dennis Hopper dissapears from the class room! That was a very cool scene in deed.

My only gripe with the film was that whole thing about the kids parents getting re-married with a thrashy lady, that subplot felt like it was on there for filler because it added nothing to the film, in my opinion anyways.

Interesting how both Fisher Stevens and John Stockwell went on to become directors themselves! They've even had a more fruitful career then Betuel himself!

Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-67227117946847136932013-04-26T11:44:52.197-04:002013-04-26T11:44:52.197-04:00Now we are talking hyperspace!!!!Now we are talking hyperspace!!!!Roderick Heathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08107539379079558068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-27686230685346434442013-04-26T11:03:58.756-04:002013-04-26T11:03:58.756-04:00Hi J.D.
