Reiner and his crew did a fantastic job of blending the old footage with the new and giving the overall film that noirish look, especially as you mention they had to do it the old fashion way.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01808503055317962289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-48229067616297410682009-11-12T09:15:46.281-05:002009-11-12T09:15:46.281-05:00heh! Just think about the editing nightmare it must've been to try and match up the classic film clips with the new footage they shot! Also, the cinematography was spot on. Chapman really captured the vintage noir look to a T.

And what can you say about Rachel Ward? Wow... I've been thinking about doing a piece on AFTER DARK, MY SWEET. One of my fave neo-noirs. She is so good in that one.

Thanks for the compliment on the blog photo. I really dig MULHOLLAND FALLS... a really underrated neo-noir with a top notch cast. Plus, any excuse to post a pic of the always lovely Jennifer Connelly. ; )Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-9930432016164073332009-11-09T16:23:53.815-05:002009-11-09T16:23:53.815-05:00Great pick for a review, J.D. I never understood those that called this lazy filmmaking, especially given the preparation and photography involved to get it to look as good as it does. And you're spot-on when we speak of Rachel Ward (my god... that woman is gorgeous). That removing the bullet with her teeth procedure never got old, in my book ;-). This is one of my fave's, too. The older Reiner should have gotten more credit for his direction work. This is a great one. Another splendid review and examination, J.D. Thanks for this.

p.s., love the new blog photo you've put up.le0pard13https://www.blogger.com/profile/09421175808461787862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-51918182971723510742009-11-09T16:17:44.142-05:002009-11-09T16:17:44.142-05:00Keith:
