There's a few that have the residue of the '70s in their DNA.

Francisco Gonzalez:

I grew up with this movie and can remember seeing it in theaters when it first came out and loving it. The art direction is brilliant and it really draws you into this world.

thevoid99:

I love "He Needs Me," which is a good example of how an untrained singer can work. Shelley Duvall really does a nice job with this song.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-10101623700877719322014-08-15T17:23:38.922-04:002014-08-15T17:23:38.922-04:00While I think of this film as a minor Altman film ...While I think of this film as a minor Altman film and Williams was alright in this film. At least it was entertaining and faithful to the story. Besides, how can you not love Popeye. Plus, I love that song "He Needs Me". thevoid99https://www.blogger.com/profile/03055459287396592446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-13133695053034233332014-08-15T16:50:36.171-04:002014-08-15T16:50:36.171-04:00Wow, didn't know everyone was loaded while mak...Wow, didn't know everyone was loaded while making this movie hahaha haha, I grew up with this movie, saw it in theaters as a kid...I've always had a fondness for it, I wanted to live in that little town by the sea! The art direction was excellent, but I have to admit the movie is a bit slow, it needed something to make it a bit more loud and exciting, especially when we consider that its a musical. But still, a film I hold close to my heart. Most people think of Heaven's Gate, but technically Popeye was released after that. Anyway, glad to see it's getting reappraised and glad you weighed in on it.Craig Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00924813294666616097noreply@blogger.com
