THE AMBULANCE which is loads of gonzo fun and Eric Roberts goodness!

Ah, and thanks for the kind words on the EXTREME PREJUDICE graphic. I couldn't resist spotlight that snazzy Walter Hill ode to manliness and I really dig Boothe and Nolte in it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-20248401796915818952011-05-04T17:45:06.072-04:002011-05-04T17:45:06.072-04:00QUEEN OF BLOOD sounds up my alley, and THE AMBULAN...QUEEN OF BLOOD sounds up my alley, and THE AMBULANCE has been on the wish list for a while. A nice writeup!

PS. And I must chime in on the EXTREME PREJUDICE wallpaper; visiting your site is always pleasant, but seeing Boothe and Nolte up there only amplifies the effect!Sean Gillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00537515557596273876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-9168551945359422842011-05-03T11:51:45.451-04:002011-05-03T11:51:45.451-04:00Oh, yeah. It's a neo-noir adaptation of Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe novel, The Little Sister. It initially didn't get great reviews in '69, but time has changed many minds. Garner's characterization foreshadowed his Jim Rockford in the next decade. If you're interested, I'll lend it to you. So cool that it has finally been released on DVD.

I saw that MARLOWE had been release but never seen it before. Is it any good?

I'm glad you liked this month's blog banner image. I figured you would. Time for some Walter Hill goodness!

Cadet:

Yeah, I dig EXTREME PREJUDICE also. A very underrated Hill film. Great cast, fantastic action and no-nonsense direction. And that Goldsmith score is pretty badass.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-73933077055931878712011-05-02T19:30:28.335-04:002011-05-02T19:30:28.335-04:00Yeah, I second that!
I don’t even have anything ...Yeah, I second that!

I don’t even have anything to say, really, about your two reviews (never seen Ambulance – Queen of Blood is fun) but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna let go some Extreme Prejudice wallpaper without a nod of approval. Whiskey and tits, that’s a rad movie!

I’ve got the Goldsmith score on cd. I think I’ll go jack it up on my stereo to max volume, rightfully disturbing the neighbors.Cadethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09378212224451377855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-78839899939922549432011-05-02T15:28:08.010-04:002011-05-02T15:28:08.010-04:00BTW, love the new lead blog image of Walter Hill&#...BTW, love the new lead blog image of Walter Hill's EXTREME PREJUDICE!le0pard13https://www.blogger.com/profile/09421175808461787862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5407391624985829089.post-79332337224738285742011-05-02T15:07:59.228-04:002011-05-02T15:07:59.228-04:00I think I actually saw QUEEN OF BLOOD ages ago on ...I think I actually saw QUEEN OF BLOOD ages ago on TV somewhere. Your right about how well its stylings catch the viewer nowadays. I agree with you, too, about the MOD programs hitting their stride. Some of the earlier MOD discs (that I have) didn't impress and I criticized them for the product. Now, however, I'm seeing some really great things showing up (finally!) with some beautiful remastered prints. I just ordered Marlowe from WB Archive (check out the clip they used to preview the video, you won't regret it). Now if only Universal could get their act together ;-).

Thanks, J.D.le0pard13https://www.blogger.com/profile/09421175808461787862noreply@blogger.com
