Thank you.

Well, by most accounts it looks like Michael Mann Week here was a rousing success! I want to give a sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed. I can say in all honesty that I read and thoroughly enjoyed everyone's submissions. It is great to see so many people who enjoy Mann's films. I would also like to thank everyone who stopped by and left comments... and to those who stopped by and didn't leave comments. Your patronage is appreciated.

I'm going to take a break this week as, quite frankly, I'm burnt out from last week. But, rest assured, I will have another post ready for next Monday. Thanks again, everybody!

  4. Hey J.D. This was great. I really loved reading these posts. I learned a lot about Michael Mann. I didn't know nearly as much about him and his films as I do now. Wonderful job. Enjoy your rest.

  6. J.D.

Thank you for hosting the Mann retrospective last week. The posts were great -- informative and well-constructed -- and I think you shed some new light on quite a few of the director's films.

Now get some rest(but come back soon...)

    best,

Thank you for the encouraging words. I was very pleased with all of the submissions and it was interesting to see which films were examined by which bloggers.

Rest assured, I will be back in the swing of things come next Monday. I've got a few ideas of films I'd like to write about...

  9. Lots of good stuff! The only thing I really would have liked to see was a piece on the short-lived ROBBERY-HOMICIDE series he exec-produced, which had a lot of practice shots -- and dialog -- that ended up in COLLATERAL and the MIAMI VICE film.

    Thanks!

    Mr. Hentai:

Y'know, I was thinking about doing something about ROBBERY HOMICIDE DIVISION as it doesn't get enough coverage... probably because nobody saw it and it has never been officially released on home video. But it is important in that Mann tested out digital cameras on this show that he would later use on films like COLLATERAL and MIAMI VICE. In fact, if memory serves, there were a couple of episodes of the show that contained story elements he would use in the VICE film (like white supremacist criminals).

    Thanks for stopping by!
